About Us

Tory Hill Farm is situated in the heart of Limerick country side, the farm is nestled at the foot of the unspoiled wilderness of Tory Hill. The surroundings include a lake, bog-land and streams along with woods and fields. Tory Hill farm is a traditional family run farm, with horses, donkeys and ponies, suckler cows and calves as well as dogs, cats, geese, hens and ducks roaming free around the historic 300 year old farm yard.

The Team

All staff are professional, fully qualified by the governing body of EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) and compliant with the ethical guidelines laid down by that body.

Clare Quinn O'Connell is the equine guided facilitator. Clare is a qualified montessori teacher with 15 years experience and was also a tutor for the V.E.C in adult education for 7 years. Clare has been working with horses and has instructed novices in horse riding for over 15 years. Clare is an EAGALA level 2 facilitator, working torwards advanced level.

Bridget Irwin is the therapist. Bridget has worked as an IACP qualified counselor for nearly 10 years; she has experience of working with adolescents, couples, addicts, ethnic communities, people with psycho-sexual issues, bereavement and womens groups. Bridget is a qualified nurse and an EAGALA level 2 facilitator.

Equine Assisted Therapy is therapy for yourself, your marriage, your family that is a brief and powerful experiential therapy that bypasses the need for talking and demonstrates the difficulties and how to resolve them through your activites with the horses. Activites are ground based and no experience of horses is required. No riding of horses is involved.

Equine Assisted Learning - our "Together with horses" programme addresses a variety of mental health needs, helping participants to develop personal awareness through activities with the horses. It provides the opportunity to de-stress, gain clarity, practice assertiveness and communication skills.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy addresses a variety of mental health needs, helping participants to develop personal awareness through activities with the horses. It provides the opportunity to de-stress, gain clarity, practise assertiveness and communication skills.

Equine assisted exercises encourage people to develop innovative and creative solutions for team challenges. You will have visibly unbiased feedback on team and leadership skills with the opportunity to experiment for immediate change.
