Welcome to Tory Hill Equine Assisted Therapy
Our Purpose - "To help people to develop their physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual selves through interactions with horses that are facilitated by professionals."
What are EAL and EAP?
Equine Assisted Learning is a process in which groups or individuals work with horses, an equestrian specialist and a facilitator to develop their personal awareness, problem solving skills, team-working and leadership skills amongst others.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy involves using therapeutic activities in an arena to develop emotional growth and personal development with a team consisting of horses, a licensed therapist and a horse professional, who can work together to address treatment goals.
We offer EAL and EAP in the safe, serene and attractive surroundings of our 300 year old traditional working family farm surrounded by stonewalled yards, stables and 70 acres of rolling green fields. In EAL & EAP participants learn about themselves and others by taking part in different (non-riding) activities with the horses and then discussing thoughts, beliefs, behaviours and patterns.
Participants have the opportunity to explore new behaviours and skills through interactions with the horse. The horses act as a mirror for the person's behaviour and respond quickly to changes. The clients are working from the ground, observed by our team who will facilitate the session.
The process of all our Equine Assisted Therapies is not riding or horsemanship, in fact 100% of our workshops take place on the ground. The focus involves setting up activities involving the horses which will require the client or group to apply certain skills e.g. leading a horse over a pole, or through a maze.
Through enjoying these experiential activities in the beautiful surroundings of Tory Hill in Croom, Co. Limerick, an environment naturally built for emotional safety, many participants have found their time at Tory Hill to have been a life changing experience as well as being deeply enjoyable.
